Human judgment matters
Human judgment is the engine of good knowledge work, and it becomes more valuable as machines do more.
About KIA
The Kinetic Information Association unites content, data, and semantics professionals through education, community, and shared standards, so that human judgment stays at the center of how knowledge is built and used in the AI era.
Why we exist now
The Society for Technical Communication closed. The trade groups of the CMS era were built around tools rather than practice. The people who structure knowledge so it can be trusted and reused have no body that speaks for them, no shared standards, and no credential that names what they do. Meanwhile their work has moved to the center of every enterprise building AI. KIA exists to close that gap.
What we believe
Human judgment is the engine of good knowledge work, and it becomes more valuable as machines do more.
The work spans content, data, and semantics. Treating them as one practice is the point.
We teach and convene around principles that hold across platforms.
Methodology work and commercial interests stay clearly separated.
How we are organized
The Kinetic Council is the governing body: the active members and industry partners who set the agenda and shape standards. The Kinetic Information Association is the wider association the Council serves, including everyone from free subscribers to credentialed professionals. Corporate partners participate by joining the Council and steering the work, not by buying a seat.
