Kinetic Information Association

A workforce is being rebuilt in real time. The people doing it should lead.

The Kinetic Information Association is a nonprofit for content, data, and semantics professionals: the people who structure knowledge so both humans and machines can use it.

What we are

A professional home for AI-era knowledge work

KIA is a vendor-neutral 501(c)(3). We bring together the people who shape how knowledge is captured, structured, and delivered, and we help them solve the hard problems of the AI transition together, in the open. The work spans three connected disciplines: content, data, and semantics.

Roles in the field

  • Content strategy, design, and operations
  • Documentation and technical communication
  • Information architecture, taxonomy, and ontology
  • Semanticists and knowledge representation practitioners
  • Knowledge management and knowledge graphs
  • Data, AI, automation, and analytics
  • UX, product, research, and AI experience designers
  • Localization and global content
  • Executives and transformation leaders

Why now

AI has made the hidden infrastructure visible

AI has become the forcing function that finally brings content, data, and semantics together. Building reliable, grounded AI takes structured knowledge with real meaning behind it, and that is built by people. Their professional infrastructure has fallen behind. KIA exists to rebuild it.
